This novel tells the story of an old man named Park So Nyo , who lost his wife in a subway station in Seoul , Korea . In this story, it is told how after losing a loved one we just realized the virtues , values ​​and affection given to us .  This novel narrated how the children thought of their missing mother. They gathered at the eldest son’s home named Hyong - chol . They discussed how to look for their missing mother . They all began to think of the attention, character and habits of their mother .

Hyong - chol remember how  mother always wanted to celebrate her birth day on the same day as his father’s,  even though her birthday is one month before the day of his father’s . Its purpose is to make easier  the children to come to Congup without having to come twice . In a meeting, his father and the siblings debated about how much money will be given to people who find their mother . Is it 1 million won, 3 million won, or 5 million won . They are also thinking about how to advertise it in the newspaper .

When something bad has happened everyone always thought why it could happen . The children asked why father brought  mom to the subway ? Why not take a taxi  ?. This novel tells how  Hong Tae - hee from the Hope House, an orphanage in Namsan - dong came and said that he was worried because the Mrs. So Nyo never stops by again . Tae - hee said that Mrs. So Nyo always donates 450,000 won every month to Hope House . Each month the children sent 600,000 won. But no one knew that she used   450,000 won to donate the orphanage .
